NVIDIA urges gamers to use their PCs to fight COVID-19
If you have a gaming computer with GPU cards, you can use its graphics capabilities to fight the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
NVIDIA encourages all owners of gaming PCs to download the Folding@home app to use their computer’s processing power to fight this deadly disease in its free time. The application allows you to link your computer to an international network that uses distributed computing power to solve complex computing tasks and gaming GPUs are uniquely suited to this task.
And, of course, at any time you will be able to disable the application and restore the full power of the GPU for gaming.
The Folding@home app was developed quite a long time ago. Earlier this week, a new series of projects became available for it to "simulate potentially drug-resistant target proteins of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) and the related SARS-CoV virus, for which more structural data is available."
The implementation of these projects can help researchers better understand the coronavirus and eventually, perhaps, develop effective treatments for the disease and its causes.
For those who feel helpless before an outbreak of Coronavirus, participation in projects such as these is a real chance to help in the fight against it, even without a medical education.
HOSTKEY will also allocate some of its GPU server capacity to this project. We hope that our assistance will help to cope with the pandemic faster and get things back to normal.
